The guest and holiday house St. Carolus opened its doors in 2017. It is at the foot of Mount Meru, surrounded by a large expanse of gardens. It is within walking distance of Lake Duluti with its leisure facilities and the centre of Tengeru.
The house is quiet, but very conveniently located on the connecting road from Kilimanjaro Airport and Arusha. The airport is about 30 minutes away; the city of Arusha and the Arusha National Park can be reached in approximately 20 minutes.

The establishment is aimed at tourists who want to explore Tanzania. The guesthouse is an ideal base for excursions to the national parks as well as for hiking tours on Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
In addition, the guesthouse offers ideal conditions for silence and contemplation for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cloister and the chapel are also perfect for just that.
The house is run by the Sisters of Charity of St. Carolus Borromeus, in Trier. The congregation is an internationally active Catholic religious community with its mother house in Trier. It can be found in Germany, the Netherlands and Tanzania.
In addition to the guesthouse, the vast complex also houses the regional House of the Congregation for Tanzania.
In Tanzania, the sisters also run a hospital (Mtinko), a kindergarten (Mtinko) and a secondary school (Misuna). They also help in the elementary schools and dispensaries.
